Bee Jays Put it All Together in Win Over Angels

In what may have been their most complete game of the young season, the Liberal Bee Jays topped the Gameday Angels 8-1 Saturday night at Brent Gould Field.  B.J. pitching held the Angels to just two hits.

For the second straight game, Gameday pitching walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the  first.  Carson Willis delivered a two RBI single.  Jacob Ortega grounded to second to score a run.  The B.J.’s scored two morein the second.  Landon Bruce launched a solo home run over the left field wall for Liberal’s first home run of the season.  Drew Garcia followed that up with a single off of the pitcher.  His courtesy runner scored on an error.  Liberal’s lead off hitter in the third reached on an error and JT Cox lined an RBI double to left off the left fielder’s glove to make it 6-1.  Carson Willis tripled to right to lead off the fourth.  Jacob Ortega drove him home.  Toff Baffa and Jaylon Johnson singled before JT Cox hit a sac fly for the 8-1 lead.  Neither team scored after the fourth.

Liberal out-hit the Angels 10-2.  The Angels committed four errors and Liberal had one.  Josh Reid was Epic Touch Player of the Game with six innings, eight strikeouts, and two walks.  Leandro Tamaki worked 1 and 2/3 scoreless innings and Sean Sage went 1 and 1/3 scoreless.  Matt Bernath and Carson Willis had two hits a piece.

The Angels are 3-3 and the Bee Jays are 5-2 overall and 4-2 in the Rocky Mountain.  The same two teams meet Sunday at 1:30 with pre-game at 1:15 on 1270 and 92.3.  Bank of the Plains is the buyout sponsor.
