Brooks Kappelmann Wins Jester Award

Liberal High School senior J. Brooks Kappelmann won a Jester Award Sunday afternoon at Century II Performing Arts Center’ in Wichita.  Kappelmann won the award for Outstanding Cameo Peformer in the Wizard of Oz. Brooks played the role of the guard.  LHS was nominated for six Jester awards from this fall’s Wizard of Oz musical at LHS.

Outstanding Pre-High School Performer- Atticus Carrillo, Tomas Ralio Cortez, and Cairo Svaty

Outstanding Supporting Performer- Emma Davidson

In addition, Hugoton High School was nominated for several Jester awards for their showing of Guys and Dolls.

Outstanding Lighting Design- Sarah Kitzke

Outstanding Sound Design- Tyler Parkridge

Outstanding Choreography- Holly Grubbs

Outstanding Supporting Performer- Tobias Grubbs

Outstanding Leading Performer- Jewels Noland

The Jester Awards showcases the next generation of musical theatre talent in Kansas. Each year, trained volunteer judges attend and evaluate dozens of performances.

The Jester Awards Ceremony took place at Century II Performing Arts Center’s Convention Hall in Wichita Sunday afternoon.
