The Oklahoma Youth Leadership Summit will have two seniors from the TCEC service area participating this year. Abigail Buller from Turpin High School and Israel Ramos from Guymon High School were granted $500 scholarships and an opportunity to participate in the prestigious event in March during the Oklahoma Youth Expo. This event promises to provide them with valuable insights into effective leadership tactics and the chance to network with notable leaders from all over the state.
In another exciting development, TCEC is pleased to reveal that three of our local high school juniors have been chosen for a unique educational experience in Washington, D.C! In June, Jaxon Lehnert from Turpin High School and Jacob Burchard and Cristian Piedra from Guymon High School will embark on the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. During this trip, they will discover the heart of the nation’s capital, visiting significant monuments and landmarks that stand as pillars of American history.
This July, juniors Maecee Strain and Andrea Mendoza from Turpin High School await an exciting outdoor adventure. They have been selected for the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp, a week-long camp near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The students will have the chance to visit the Craig Power Station – a key energy landmark in the state- and engage in various fun-filled outdoor activities.
Three resourceful eighth-grade students penned creative essays suggesting ways to improve energy efficiency in their schools. The winning students will receive an incredible four-day trip to Energy Camp outside Hinton, Oklahoma. Molly Ritter from Hooker Junior High and David Cardenas and Aiden Longfellow from Guymon Junior High will be engaging in exciting activities like swimming, hiking, and go-cart racing, along with gaining insights about rural electrification.
TCEC remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering growth and learning among its youthful members, offering them opportunities to explore diverse places and enhance their understanding of the electric cooperative industry.
