City Commission Recognizes City Employees

The Liberal City Commission met and Service Awards were presented by the Mayor

Andrew Williams – Parks Department

15 Years of Service
Warren Headrick – Fire Department
Elivorio Navarrete – Street Department
Jeremiah Potter – Street Department
Hiram Gutierrez – Municipal Court
Jose Rosales – Water Department

20 Years of Service
Santiago Cardoza – Solid Waste Department
Jose Torres – Fire Department
Fidel Barboza – Cemetery Department

25 Years of Service
Melissa Cowan- Utility Billing Department

30 Years of Service
Kimberly Clinkingbeard – Municipal Court
Skeety Poulton – Fire Department

Kiddie Bond – Police Department

Commissioners heard an update from the Seward County Development Corporation and in a discussion item, a sewer rate study was done to review future costs and income to decide if the funds would be available to pay the new SRF loan payments. It was found that the City would need to raise rates or add a $10.00 fixed charge to the monthly rates in order to cover the loan payments. This will be discussed further with the Commission, Engineering and Administration at the next Commission meeting to decide on the best approach.
