CERT Training Offered Through the Emergency Management Department

The public is invited to participate in the Community Response Team (CERT) training. This program educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills. This training is free and will take place over two and a half days, April 29th, from 6:30pm-9:30pm. April 30th, 8:30am-5:00pm. and May the 1st from 1:00pm-5:00pm. The training will take place at Seward County Community College Room SW229.

Facilitators will include: Anthony Cruz, Instructor, Greg Standard, Emergency Management an Veronica Rubio, Emergency Management. Topics to be covered on April 29th are Disaster Psychology, Terrorism/Cybersecurity, and Disaster Preparedness. April 30th Disaster Medical Operations, First Aide/CPR, EMS Triage and Hands on Skilled Tests (Mock Disasters0. On May 1st topics are Light Search and Recue, and Fire Safety and Utility Controls. As a member of a CERT Team you can respond to disasters, participate in drills and execises, and take additional training. Graduates of the program will receive a certificate.
