Seward County Mask Mandate Fails

The Seward County Commission met Monday evening at 5:30pm. On the mask mandate the County Commission voted at this time to not put in place a mandatory mask mandate. On the gathering size limitations, Commissioners opted to limit the gathering sizes in public settings to 50 individuals indoors and 100 individuals outdoors only. Removed were gathering sizes in private residential indoor and outdoor spaces, and the 6ft distancing in churches. Several exemptions were included in the Resolution, including but not limited to churches, political gatherings, hospitals, schools, restaurants, retail, etc. A full list of exemptions can be found at www.sewardcountyks.org.

Commissioners also approved the purchase of a belly dump trailer for the Road and Bridge Department  from Larry’s Trailer Sales & Service, LLC out of Wichita with no trade in, for $30,200 to come out of Road and Bridge Special Equipment Fund. Commissioners also approved the purchase of an LED Sign for the Health Department from Visual Signs in the amount of $24,732.93.

Several CARES Act Fund Requests were also approved.
