Joe Denoyer - October 22, 2020 11:57 am

Wichita police have identified the man killed Wednesday night following a youth football game at the Stryker Sports Complex as 31-year-old Marquell “Marky” Nolen.

Nolen played for the Seward County Saints Basketball program during the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 seasons. He helped Seward win the Jayhawk West Conference in  2011 and was 1st Team All Region in 2011.

Police said Nolen got into an argument and physical altercation with the suspect on the west side of the stadium bleachers. The suspect pulled out a handgun, firing multiple shots and Nolen was struck. He was taken to Wesley Woodlawn by a private vehicle where he died.

Wichita police released surveillance photos of the suspect. They said while fleeing the scene he also left behind a left yellow sneaker.

Anyone with more information on the shooting is asked to call WPD Investigations at 316-268-4407, the See Something Say Something hotline at 316-519-2282 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111
