Texas County Confirms 5 New Positive COVID-19 Test Results, 1 Death

By Miranda Gilbert

Emergency Management PIO

Texas County officials confirmed five new positive COVID-19 tests and one new COVID-19 related death on Wednesday, June 3. The death was for a male in the 65+ age group. Residents are asked to continue to wear a face covering and maintain proper social distancing to continue to flatten the local curve.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting 939 cases with 880 recoveries and six deaths for Texas County. For more data on confirmed COVID-19 cases visit the state’s website www.coronavirus.health.ok.gov. OSDH is not reporting towns, hospitalizations, or employers for our county COVID-19 cases. Officials recognize that not all agencies report data in the same 24-hour period and some data totals will vary.

All residents are encouraged to execute safety guidelines as advised by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). If leaving the home, wear a face covering. Avoid touching your face. Always wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water when returning home, and again after you put away groceries.

Residents should seek testing if exposed to COVID-19 and when experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. The three main symptoms include a fever, shortness of breath, and coughing but these are not always present. Those experiencing symptoms are advised to self-quarantine and monitor symptoms daily.

Drive-Through testing is offered for FREE by Walmart with appointments made at www.DoINeedACOVID19Test.com, and the Texas County Health Department for individuals with at least one COVID-19 symptom present or if they’ve had exposure to a COVID-19 positive person, but an appointment is required. Appointments are available by calling TCHD at 580-338-8544. Additional testing is offered by Specialty Clinics of St. Anne’s, Internal Medicine, Xpress Urgent Care, and Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
