Sheriff Bill McBryde will not seek Re-election

Joe Denoyer - May 5, 2020 11:32 am

In a letter issued by Sheriff Bill McBryde dated May 4th, he states:

“Since January 1989, I have had the privilege of serving as Seward County Sheriff for 8 elected terms. After 41 cumulative years of service to the Sheriff’s Office and serious consideration, I am announcing that I will not be seeking re-election. I am honored to have spent over half my life dedicated to this community, and am grateful to have worked with so many remarkable men and women.

This chapter of my life has been an experience that words cannot properly describe. As I look back over my career, I leave with a full understanding of how blessed I am to be a resident of Seward County. The citizens of Seward County have trusted me through eight terms, supported my family, and have given me a fulfilling career.

Throughout my years in public safety, I find it important to recognize the many mentors that helped me along the way, and allowed me to advance my career in law enforcement. I’d also like to thank the many community leaders, city, and county officials, farmers, ranchers, and local business owners that have enriched all my years of service. It has been an honor to learn, succeed, and serve with you in an effort to make Seward County a better place.

I look forward to spending more time with my wife and daughter, Ruth and Katie, our friends and family, and enjoying the next chapter of retired life. Thank you again, it has been my honor to serve and work with so many of you.”

Respectfully,
Bill McBryde
Seward County Sheriff
Seward County Sheriff’s Office
