Wind Driven Fire Quickly Contained by Seward County Fire

On Wednesday April 8, 2020 at 2:40pm Seward County Fire Department was dispatched to a reported natural vegetation fire in North Seward County on Road 20 and Road K. Units arrived on scene to find a wind driven fire moving to the south at a moderate rate of spread. The fire was contained with forward progress stopped at 90 acres within 51minutes of arrival on scene.

Seward County Fire Department responded with 8 firefighters, 2 engines, 3 attack trucks, 3 water tenders, and 2 Chief Officers. The department was assisted by Sheriffs Office, 2 locals with tractors and discs and mutual aid from Haskell County Fire Department. Also assisting was Supreme feeders with a water tender. Cause of the fire was accidental, and damage values were unavailable. No injuries were reported.
