Late Afternoon Accident Sends 2 to the Hospital

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at approximately 4:17 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection at 15th Street and Carlton Avenue for a reported injury accident. Responding officers found two vehicles involved.

Investigating officersfrom the Liberal Police Department found that a 22 year old female was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu south on Carlton Avenue. The driver stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. A 21 year old male was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup west on 15th Street. The driver of the Malibu entered the intersection and the vehicles collided.

Both drivers were transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS with non life-threatening injuries. The Malibu was towed from the scene because of extensive front end damage. The driver of the Malibu was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection.
