Injury Accident Keeps LPD Busy

Joe Denoyer - March 6, 2020 8:18 am

On Thursday, March 5, 2020 at approximately 3:17 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the intersection at 11th Street and Pershing Avenue for a reported injury accident. Responding officers found two vehicles involved.

Investigating officers from the Liberal Police Department found that a 55 year old female was driving a 2009 Honda Accord north on Pershing Avenue. The driver stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection. A 56 year old male was driving a 1997 Ford Expedition east on 11th Street. The driver of the Honda did not see the oncoming vehicle because of the glare from the sun and the vehicles collided in the intersection.

The driver of the Honda was transported to Southwest Medical Center by Seward County EMS with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford was not injured. The driver of the Honda was issued a citation for failure to yield at an intersection
