Satanta Scholars Bowl Team Headed to State

The Satanta High School Scholars’ Bowl team (Andrew Heimerich, Heidi Neef, Ella Burrows, Jaylon Essix, Jody Zimmerman, and Sami Small) qualified for the 1A State Scholars’ Bowl Tournament by posting a record of 9-1 at the regional meet at Rolla High School on Thursday, February 6.

In pool play, Satanta defeated Moscow 90-10, Kinsley 70-20, Ingalls 80-0, Minneola 70-50, and Greeley County 40-20. In the final round-robin, Satanta bested Ingalls 90-0, Hodgeman County 60-30, Minneola 60-40, and Ashland 70-20. Rolla defeated the team 60-45 in close fought match-up.

This will mark the Indians’ eleventh consecutive appearance at state (February 15 at Goessel High School). To date, Satanta has earned five state titles (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019) and three state runner-up titles (2012, 2015, 2016), winning regional titles in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
