Linda Kay Tomlison, age 80, passed away late Friday evening, October 2, 2026, at the Country Living of Larned, Larned, Kansas.
She was born January 8, 1946, at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Thurman and Madeline (Stayner) Kane. As a young girl, she attended school Palmyra, Pennsylvania, graduating from Palmyra High School in 1963. While in high school, she participated in an internship with the Reese Peanut Butter Company and began working for them upon her graduation. Later the company was purchased by the Hershey’s Chocolate Company where she began working in the corporate offices.
On September 24, 1966, she married Bruce Tomlinson at Palmyra, Pennsylvania. After their marriage, the couple moved to Meade, Kansas, and she began working for Gates Drug Store. She later began working for Meade Manufacturing as a secretary. In 1969, she began working as a secretary in the superintendents office and clerk of the board for Meade USD 226 before joining CMS Electric, serving in the company offices, as well as on the Board of Trustees for many years.
She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church, KEC, KEPCO, serving also as a trustee, and was an active member of the Meade County 4-H program. She enjoys bowling, ceramics, mowing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Tina Esfeld and husband T.R. of Great Bend, Kansas; two brothers, Barry Kane of Springhill, Florida, and Roy Kane of Leesburg, Virginia; two grandsons, Takota Esfeld and wife Bailey and Ty Esfeld and wife Kinsley, both of Great Bend, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Ryett and Tilley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bruce on August 19, 2013; her parents; and a brother, Merle Kane.
In accordance to her request, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Appleton Township Cemetery, Minneola, Kansas, at a later date. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas, has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family would welcome memorials to the Beam Senior Center or the Meade County 4-H in care of the funeral home.
