The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening and in new business, the Commissioners granted Stepping Stone Shelter $22,691.31 in additional funding to utilize the opioid settlement funds as outlined in the MFAF guidelines.

The Commission also approved signing the KDOT Project Programming Request for the Massoni Bridge.

Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-14, a resolution establishing rules for alcohol consumption on County property.  This resolution will supersede Resolutions 94-18, 88-17, 2003-06, 2011-09, and any other conflicting resolutions, which are now repealed. The Commission also approved a waiver for the 5 State Fair for August 6-8.

The Commission voted to accept funds and authorize expenditures per KDHE guidelines and for Health Department Director to sign KDHE Aid to local program universal contract and contract attachments. All grant awards and amendments will be placed on file in the County Clerk’s Office.

The County Commissioners approved the minutes dated July 10, 2026, of the Seward County Waste Management Committee and for Landfill Director, Tyler Antrim, to submit them to KDHE. The Board also accepted the Treasurer’s Register.

The Board gave approval to a budget realignment for the Treasurer’s Office and its employees, and gave approval of the starting wages for Rural Fire as follows:

Deputy Chief $63,000 annually
Captain $20.25 per hour
Lieutenant $18.50 per hour
Firefighter $16.00 to $17.00 per hour

Information was also given to the Commission regarding the Tax Sale/Recovery.

After an Executive Session, the Commission approved moving Brock Theiners wages from the Landfill to the General Fund.
