Bee Jay Bats Go Silent in Loss to Foxes

The Liberal Bee Jays had scored double digit runs in seven of the last eight games.  But after a three day lay-off, the B.J. bats fell silent Thursday night in a 9-3 loss to the Fort Collins Foxes at Brent Gould Field.  Liberal mustered three hits in the loss.  It was a loss despite the B.J. pitching staff striking out 16 Foxes.  It was Liberal’s second ever loss to Ft. Collins as the Foxes topped the Bee Jays 9-6 in 13 innings in Liberal in 2024.

The Bee Jays scored first with a third inning run.  Kaden Isola led off the inning with a single.  Cade Adams singled home the run.  Ft. Collins scored two in the fourth on four hits to take the lead.  The Foxes added single runs in the fifth and sixth.  Liberal finally scored again in the eighth when Trenton Uyeda rolled a two RBI single through the left side to make it 4-3.  But the Foxes blew the game open with five in the ninth.

The Foxes out-hit the Bee Jays 9-3.  Ft. Collins had four errors and Liberal had two.

Andrew Banda was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game.  He had a stretch when he struck out seven in a row.  He went 3 and 2/3 innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.  Sam Barnes worked two scoreless in relief.

Ft. Collins is 13-5 overall and 3-3 in the Rocky Mountain.  Liberal is 10-4 overall and 8-3 in the Rocky Mountain.  The same two teams meet Friday night at 7pm at Brent Gould Field.  The game airs on 1270 and 92.3 FM.  Lewis Motors is the buyout sponsor.
