City Commission Approves Demolition of 619 Nebraska

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and kicked off the meeting by reading a proclamation for Summer Reading Kickoff Day on June 1. The Commission, in new business, approved the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Liberal and Seward County in the matter concerning Seward County Development Corporation (SCDC).

Commissioners approved the Demolition of 619 Nebraska and awarded the demolition bid to ARC Spray Foam, LLC for $4,189.32. The Commission approved an amount not to exceed $105,000.00 for the gas line relocation at the City of Liberal Cemetery for the expansion project. This approval will supersede the previous decision on May 12 as an additional line was found that was not showing on the original map.

Commissioners accepted the donation of four Scott Aviation SCBA bottles to the Fire Department, and discussed Fireworks in the City with an eye on the weather and conditions, and will make a decision on sales and shooting off of fireworks as it gets closer to the 4th of July.

As for the Airport Terminal Parking Lot, the Commission awarded the Expansion Project to Kansas Dirt in the amount of $2,058,418.79. Also approved was the purchase of cubicles with electrical and have them installed for the Liberal Police Department in an amount not to exceed $40,000.

The Commission approved a Work Order with PEC to address a handful of issues on the Doll Housing Addition that ultimately resulted from mid-project drainage changes. PEC will be paid an amount of $27,940.00 for their services.
