The Lady Red swim team turned in a strong performance Thursday at the WAC Championships, finishing fourth overall with 166 team points behind solid relay performances and strong individual swims.

The Lady Redskins were led by a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, where Nathalie Ortega, Jordyn Myers, Jyzelle Juarez, and Alexis Ugalde combined for a time of 2:28.16. Liberal also earned another fifth-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay with Jyzelle Juarez, Lyla Anderson, Nathalie Ortega, and Alexis Ugalde finishing in 5:02.60.

Individually, Alexis Ugalde led Liberal with a fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (1:11.04) while also placing sixth in the 50 freestyle. Jyzelle Juarez added a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle and placed eighth in the 100 butterfly. Nathalie Ortega contributed top-eight finishes in both the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke.

Lyla Anderson also scored valuable points with a seventh-place finish in the 200 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle, while Jordyn Myers added a 10th-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.

The Lady Red also showed strong overall depth throughout the meet with multiple relay teams and a large exhibition group gaining valuable varsity experience as Liberal continued its strong late-season progress.

With strong relay consistency, improving individual times, and continued growth across the roster, Liberal closed out the WAC Championships showing both competitiveness and promising depth moving forward.
