The Seward softball season lives on for another day. The Saints lost their opener in the Region 6 Tournament at Legends Sports Complex in Dodge City but won the night cap. Butler topped seventh seeded SCCC 11-5 Friday afternoon but the Saints won under the lights 20-10 over Garden City.
Seward was competitive early on with the Butler Grizzlies. Seward led 4-2 going to the bottom of the third. The Grizzlies scored four in the bottom of the third to lead 6-4. Butler added two in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth. SCCC scored a sixth inning run. Butler out-hit the Saints 9-6. Mya Van Der Mey was 3-3 with three RBI’s. Taryn Golden was 2-2 with a double, two runs, and two RBI’s.
Seward played the six seed Garden City Broncbusters Saturday night. Seward scored in all but one inning. Seward scored four in the first and the second for an 8-2 lead. Seward led 9-4 after three, 13-6 after four, and 15-8 after five. GCCC scored one in the sixth but the Saints tucked the game to sleep with five in the seventh. Seward out-hit the Busters 16-12. Mya Van Der Mey was 4-5. Ami Perez was 3-5 with two doubles and four RBI’s. Taryn Golden was 2-4 with three RBI’s. Taylor Harding was 2-4 with three runs. Ella Doxey hit a home run and drove home five. Garden City had swept all four during the regular season.
Seward is 20-32 and plays Colby Saturday at 2pm in Dodge City.
