The Butler Grizzlies swept the Seward County Saints 7-2 and 13-1 Thursday afternoon at McDonald Stadium in El Dorado. The two teams are now tied at 14-12 in the KJCCC West. The Saints have lost five in a row.
In game one, Butler scored one in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth, and one in the sixth. Juan Alvarez hit a two run home run to right in the seventh to make it 7-2. Butler out-hit the Saints 10-6. Juan Alvarez was Black Hills Energy Player of the Game going 2-4 with a home run and a double.
In game two, the Grizzlies slugged three more home runs. They scored five in the first, four in the second, and four in the fourth. Seward scored one in the sixth when Diego Munoz hit sac fly to center to score David Brabb. Armani Ysac went 2 and 1/3 scoreless innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
Butler is 25-22 overall and 14-12 in the Jayhawk West. Seward falls to 22-30 overall and 14-12 in the Jayhawk West. The same two teams play Saturday at 1pm at Brent Gould Field with pregame at 12:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
