Every year the City of Liberal runs a three-month sewer rate assessment for utility customers by measuring average monthly water use and setting rates that match each customer’s actual use.
This year the City has shortened the assessment period to two-months, ending just prior to recent wildfires in mid-February. The City of Liberal knows many residents used extra water to protect their property and have been wanting to water lawns as warm weather has arrived early.
A three-month average measured during colder months is a regular practice for many municipalities when setting a customer’s sewer rate. New sewer rates will be calculated and updated on resident’s bills beginning in April.
