The red hot #17 Barton Cougars throttled the Seward County Saints Wednesday night at Fleske Fieldhouse in Great Bend. Barton won the game at the foul line going 51-57. The Saints were 21-31 from the foul line.
The Saints took an early 9-5 lead and led 13-12 with 11:29 to play in the half. Barton took a 29-17 lead with 5:18 to play in the half. Barton led 32-19 with 3 minutes left in the half. Barton led 38-20 at the half. Barton was 23-25 from the free throw line in the first half. The Cougars led 47-27 and led 55-37 with 15:06 to play. The Cougars led 70-53 with 9:03 to play. The Cougars took a 74-53 lead. Barton led by as many as 22.
The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is Korbin Dowdell with 14 points and six rebounds. Lyna Brooks Jr. added 12 points and six rebounds. RJ McKinnie had 11. JJ Chapman had 10.
Seward shot 39 percent going 9-32 from three point range and 21-31 at the foul line. Barton only shot 33 percent and made 5-19 from three but made 90 percent of their charities going 51-57.
Barton wins their ninth in a row and 11th of their last 12 to improve to 21-8 overall and 16-7 in the Jayhawk. The Saints fall to 17-11 overall and 12-10 in the Jayhawk. The Saints are 5-9 on the road after losing their sixth straight road game.
