The Liberal Lady Redskins took a topsy turvy overtime win Tuesday night at the Garden in Garden City. Liberal won 68-66 despite trailing by nine twice in the fourth quarter. Kylie Rhine scored a career high 28 points and broke the school record for 3’s in a season with 47.
Garden City took an early 9-6 lead and led 11-9 after one quarter. Garden City took an 18-11 lead. Liberal rallied to lead 29-26 at the half. Kylie Rhine buried a three pointer to give Liberal a 38-30 lead. It was her 47th made three of the season breaking the school’s single season record. LHS led 40-32. But Garden City used an 11-0 run to lead 43-40 after three and a 21-2 run to lead 51-42 with 6:12 remaining. GCHS led 53-44 before LHS went on a 12-3 to tie the game at 56-56. Shamari Lewis drove down the left lane to make it 60-60 with 6.9 second left. She missed the free throw and the game went to overtime. Rhine took over in overtime and made

Garden City is 13-9 overall and finishes 4-4 in the WAC. Liberal improves to 16-3 overall and 5-2 in the WAC. Liberal has won 12 in a row and 23 of the last 24 against GCHS. Liberal plays at Dodge City Tuesday night at 6pm with Redskin Pregame at 5:45 on 1270 and 92.3 FM.
