What a difference 24 hours makes. One night after a crestfallen Liberal Redskin team left the locker room after an overtime loss, LHS celebrated a win and a milestone. James Fieser reached 1,000 career points for his career and Liberal defeated Southwestern Heights 72-62 Friday night in the Big House. The Skins snap a 13 game winning streak.
Liberal jumped out to a 13-9 lead. The Redskins led 18-9 and led 18-12 after one quarter. The Redskins took their biggest lead of 36-22 into the halftime locker room. The Redskins built a pair of 16 point leads at 49-33 and 51-35. LHS led 51-38 after three. Heights rallied to make it 56-53 with 3:47 to play when Omar Mercado swished a three. The Redskins responded to lead 65-57 before the Mustangs rallied to trim the lead to 65-62 with 1:30 to play. The Redskins reeled off the games last seven points to win by 10.
The Black Hills Energy Player of the Game is James Fieser with 22 points in his final game in the Big House. Juan Diego scored 14. Alan Olvera scored 10 in his final home game. Ethan Olmstead scored 10.
The Mustangs are 12-11 and Liberal is 2-17. Liberal plays at Great Bend Monday night at about 6:15 on 1270 and 92.3.
