Wayne Simien "Called To Greatness"

KSCB News - June 2, 2009 12:00 am

(AP) – Former University of Kansas basketball star Wayne Simien has stepped away from his dream of playing professional basketball and is pursuing a higher calling with his new sports ministry.

The 26-year-old Kansas native retired from the Miami Heat earlier this month and plans to put all of his energy into “Called to Greatness,” which he started last year.

Simien says he had access to all sorts of vices as an All-American at Kansas and as a single man in Miami. But instead of going down that road, he started looking forward to the time when he could devote himself to his faith.

Simien envisions CTG will evolve into a national or international program that runs Christian-tinged sports camps, leagues and teams in much more than basketball.
