USD 480 Board to Meet, Vape Detectors on the Agenda

Joe Denoyer - October 18, 2019 10:44 am

USD 480

The USD 480 Board of Education will meet on Monday evening at 6:30pm with Overnight Trips, Employment/Retirements/Resignations/Transfers, acceptance of a gift and an Agreement for Special Education Transportation Services with USD 259 on the Consent Agenda.

In old business, a Land Donation will be removed from the table and brought back before the board.

In new business, the Board will consider Vape Detectors for Liberal High Schools Main Campus. USD 480 has solicited pricing for twelve multifunction vape detectors that will be installed in the student bathrooms in LHS main campus, installation to be performed by district personnel.
Pricing is being provided under a Greenbush contract.
The detectors are capable of sensing vaping as it happens, as well as increased noise levels that may indicate fighting or bullying. The sensors will then send a notification to designated building staff so that they may respond. If approved, cost would be $10,846 from INAalert of Ellinwood Kansas.
