US 56 Construction Begins in Elkhart

Grading and surfacing of U.S. 56 at Morton Street in Elkhart could begin as early as January 8. This project includes the reconstruction of Morton Street intersection on the north side of U.S. 56 with the addition of a turn lane on U.S. 56. Morton Street, north of the highway will be closed at the intersection and will require an alternate route during the project. Morton Street, south of U.S. 56 will remain open during the project.
Bryant & Bryant of Halstead is the contractor on this $536,468 project which is expected to be completed by March 16 weather permitting.
