Two Vehicle Accident Sends Several People To The Hospital

A two vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 412 at the U.S. 83 intersection sent several people to Perryton, Texas and Amarillo hospitals at 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

In a report from the Guymon Daily Herald, a 2003 Pontiac, driven by Jerry Redmond, 45, of Guymon, was east-bound on Highway 412 when it was struck by a 2003 Oldsmobile, driven by Juan M. Lopez, 18, of Liberal, Kan.

Lopez failed to stop at the blinking red light at the intersection.

Redmond refused treatment at the scene, but two passengers in the vehicle ź?? Mary Redmond, 51, of Guymon ź?? and Debbie Hudson, 53, of Guymon, were taken to Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas.

Mary Redmond was admitted with trunk internal injuries and later transferred to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas where she was in stable condition.

Hudson was taken to the Perryton hospital with trunk, internal and arm injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Lopez was taken to Perryton, treated and released. A passenger in his vehicle ź?? Ivette Leyua, 19, of Liberal, was taken to the Perryton hospital with trunk internal injuries and is listed in stable condition.

A second passenger, Jose Maequez, 25, of Liberal, refused treatment at the scene.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report stated that seatbelts were in use in both vehicles at the time of the wreck.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Michael Eckhardt of the Beaver Detachment and assisted by Trooper Derrick Stewart and Trooper Steven Crooks of the Beaver Detachment, the Beaver County Sheriff’s Dept. and the Perryton, Texas EMS.
