Two Vehicle Accident Sends Man To The Hospital

KSCB News - February 16, 2015 4:16 pm

A 2 vehicle accident occured Monday morning North of Liberal on Highway 83. A 1996 Freightliner semi being driven by Christiam Moreno, 37, of Liberal, was driving northbound and a 1998 Camry being driven by Thoi To, 71, of Wichita was driving southbound on US 83 near milepost 21 in Seward County. The Camry slid on the ice, causing the vehicle to slide over the center line, into the pathway of the Semi. Both vehicles collided, passenger headlight to passenger headlight. After the initial collision, the Camry began to spin in a clockwise motion and hit the truck again; this caused more damage to Camry. Both vehicles continued in their direction of travel. The Freightliner began to jack-knife and drove into the east ditch. It continued to jackknife and the truck came to a rest facing south and the trailer was facing north. Never detached from each other. The Camry began to slide backwards into the east ditch and came to a rest, facing north. Thoi To was taken by ambulance to Southwest Medical Center.
