KSCB News - August 24, 2009 12:00 am

A vile of PCP and bags of marijuana were confiscated after a member of the District Attorney’s Drug Task Force made a routine traffic stop on US Hwy. 54 on August 16.

Everett Jefferson Davis, 29, and Vanessa Richelle Noriega, 23, both of Arizona, were each arrested for allegedly committing three felonies including bringing contraband (marijuana) into a jail/penal institution, possession of a controlled substance, pyrrolidine (PCP), within 2000 feet of a school and possession of controlled substance, marijuana, within 1000 feet of a school.

After being pulled over for speeding, officers report they had reason to believe that illegal substances were in the vehicle due to the behavior of the suspects. After running the K-9 Unit around the vehicle for a free air search, the K-9 Unit alerted to drugs in the trunk.

Officers asked Davis if they could search the vehicle. Davis declined. The officers then asked Noriega if she would comply with a search of the vehicle, but she also declined.

A probable cause search of the vehicle then took place, upon searching the trunk area, officers found a a small vile of a yellowish liquid wrapped in a white glove, wrapped in another white glove and shoved into two plastic bags. Also located in the trunk were two baggies of marijuana wrapped in a pair of men’s jean located in a black bag.

The pair was then transported to the Texas County Jail, where two more baggies of marijuana were found in Noriega’s glass case. Noriega denied knowledge of the baggies.

Davis, who is a convicted felon for possession of controlled substance back in February 22, 2000, in San Berdardino County, Calif., where he spent eight months is also being charged for possession after a former conviction.

The pair currently awaits trail on a bond of $35,000.
