Authorities are searching for three criminals who broke out of the Ottawa County Jail in Minneapolis Wednesday morning. They allegedly injured several jail employees during the escape.

Still at large is Santos Carrera-Morales, 22. He was serving time for a double-murder in Sedgwick County in March, 2007. The victims, Julio Morales, 16, and Adrian Vega, 18, were shot to death in the 9100 block of E. Harry.

Also on the run is Eric James, 22, serving time for kidnapping and aggravated burglary in Anderson County. His last known address was in Kansas City, Missouri.

The third inmate who escaped and is Drew Wade, 21. He was convicted in 2008 of attempted robbery and aggravated battery in Shawnee County.

Officials say the inmates overpowered jail workers to get into the control room and escape the jail. In the process, they injured three jail staff members.

Authorities say a Minneapolis resident was stabbed in the face when the inmates stole his car.

Officials say the men should be considered armed and dangerous.

"If you see them, don’t try to apprehend them yourself," said Sheriff Keith Coleman, Ottawa County. "Make sure you contact law enforcement."

He thinks the men may have separated. Authorities are looking for two vehicles of interest.

The first is a 2002 Nissan Altima, gold in color, with a Kansas tag number of 649-CIC.

The other is a 2005 Chevrolet Venture, tan in color, with a Kansas tag number of 854-DZQ.

If you have any information that could help authorities find the suspects, call 911, or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-572-7463, or the Ellsworth Correctional Facility at 785-472-5501.

A Department of Correction official says the men were transferred from Ellsworth State Correctional Facility in January because of prison overcrowding.
