Skins Tennis Ties Garden

Liberal Varsity Tennis splits team honors with Garden City at the Dodge City Invitational Tennis Tournament on April 21, 2011. All LHS entries made it to the final matches winning 1 st Place in number one doubles and second place in number one and two singles and number two doubles to earn 17 team points. Garden City finished with 17 team points followed by Great Bend with 9 team points. Participating teams included Garden City, Dodge City, Great Bend, Larned, and Meade.

Individual Results:

#1 Singles—Larcyn Carter went 2-1 on the day finishing 2 nd Place. He defeated Meade’s Jared Friesen 8-6, defeated Great Bend’s Noel Rodrguez 8-5, then lost to Larned’s Jaret Johnson 2-8 in the finals.

#2 Singles—Josh Hamilton went 2-1 on the day finishing 2 nd Place. He defeated Meade’s Randy Friesen 8-1, defeated Great Bend’s Ramon Garcia 8-3, then lost to Garden City’s Fidelix Kyaw 5-8 in the finals.

#1 Doubles—Duc Nguyen and Vince Nguyen went 3-0 earning 1 st Place honors. They defeated Meade’s Wiens/Ross 8-7 (3), defeated Great Bend’s Moyers/Heeke 8-0, then defeated Garden City’s Riggs/Clarke 8-2 to take 1 st Place.

#2 Doubles—Tony Rodriguez and Ozzy Villarreal went 2-1 finishing 2 nd Place. They defeated Meade’s Friesen/Gleason 8-5, defeated Great Bend’s Neeland/Heeke 8-4, then lost to Garden City’s Keller/Keller 4-8 in the finals.
