Skins Drop the Hammer Late on Eisenhower

KSCB News - October 30, 2013 7:14 am

The Liberal soccer team waited until the second half to put the game away. LHS won their opening game of the 5A soccer playoffs 5-0 over visiting Goddard Eisenhower on a still Tuesday evening at Cornelsen. Liberal missed multiple first half opportunities to score against an overmatched Tiger team and LHS led just 1-0 after one half. Henry Vela scored his first goal at the 13:24 mark of the first half with an assist from Samuel Cruz. Vela wasted little time to find the back of the net in the second half scoring at the 36:19 makr and the 23:49 mark thanks to an assist from Jason Rios. Cruz scored at the 20:40 mark and the 12:21 mark. The Redskins are 11-6 and have won six of their last seven. Eisenhower finishes 6-10-1. LHS faces 13-4 Kapaun in Wichita at 6:30 in the Stryker Complex. The Crusaders topped Wichita Heights 1-0.
