Seward County Sheriff’s Office And The KBI Make Arrests

On Monday, April 27, 2009 and Tuesday April 28, 2009, Deputies from the Seward County Sheriffź??s Office and Agents of the Kansas Bureau of Investigations executed three search warrants on three Liberal residents. The search warrants were the result of a month long join investigation between the Seward County Sheriffź??s Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigations Drug Task Force. The warrants lead to the arrests of 7 Liberal residents in connection with the sale of and possession of illegal narcotics and the possession of fraudulent identification documents.

Liberal resident Juan Carlos Padilla was arrested on April 27, 2009 following the search of his home at 1215 Fairview . Padilla was charged with one count possession of Cocaine with the intent to sell, one count no Kansas drug tax stamp, and one count possession of drug paraphernalia.

Liberal resident Jose Carrera was arrested on April 28, 2009 following the search of his home at 130 S. Sherman . Carrera was charge with three counts of sale of Marijuana, three counts of no Kansas drug tax stamp, one count of possession of Marijuana with the intent to sell and one count possession of drug paraphernalia.

Liberal resident Miguel Vasquez was arrested on April 28, 2009 following the search of his home at 218 S. Clay. Vasquez was charged with one count of possession of Cocaine with the intent to sell, one count of no Kansas drug tax stamp and one count identity theft.

During the search of the residence at 218 S. Clay officers discovered several forged identification documents including Arizona ID cards and Social Security cards. As result residents, Jose Castillo, Miguel Sanchez, Gilberto Vasquez and Jose Santos were also arrested on one count each identity theft.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a Court of law.
