Seward Clinches Second Straight Jayhawk West Crown

Seward wins their second straight Jayhawk West title and third overall with two wins against Barton in Great Bend Friday. Seward beat the last place Cougars 6-3 and 12-2. In game one, Erin Roufosse allowed just one earned run and Seward won despite struggling defensively. Alicia Reyes hit a homer in the win. In game two, Tawnee Steeman made a rare pitching start in Seward’s blowout win. Brianna Baron and Shelby Casey both homered in the win. Seward finishes the Jayhawk West 13-3 and 44-12 overall. Barton is 9-30 overall and 2-14 in the Jayhawk West. Seward opens the Region 6 Tournament at Wichita State Friday at 2 p.m. against the winner of Colby-Barton.
