Seward and Garden Split Doubleheader

The Garden City Broncbusters defeated the Seward County Saints baseball team 13-4 in game one of a a doubleheader at Brent Gould Field. Seward led 2-1 after three innings and the game was tied at four after four innings of play. However, Garden put up three runs in the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. The Broncbusters out-hit the Saints 12-8.

Jared Broadbent hit two home runs in the loss. He now has six on the season. Todd Glime also hit a homer.

Game two went to the Saints 13-3 in a run rule. The game lasted just six innings. Garden scored the first run of the game in the top half of the first, but the Saints responded wtih two runs in the bottom of the first. Garden added a run in the third to tie the game, but Seward broke the game open in the bottom half of the third with a six run inning. The Saints added three runs in the fourth, and two in the sixth to clinch the win. Todd Glime hit his fourth home run of the season and the second on the day in the victory.

Garden is now 24-7 overall and 11-3 in the Jayhawk West. Seward is 18-17 overall and 14-4 in the conference. The two teams will face each other again on Monday for another doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
