SCCC/ATS Director To Retire

At the Seward County Community College/ Area Technical School board meeting held Monday March, the 2nd, the Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of Ed Poley, Director of the Technical School, effective June 30, 2009. The board and administration expressed appreciation to Mr. Poley for his years of service to the area technical school and his commitment to the implementation of the merger. Ed Poley started teaching Continuing Education courses in the evenings at the technical school in 1985. He accepted the position of Assistant Director on July 1st of 1998. Renee Vincent was then the Director. On July 1st of 2004, Poley was promoted to Director, a position he will hold until his retirement date. When asked what he was most proud of in his tenure with the Technical School, Poley said the merger was a proud moment for both the technical school and the college, and he was excited for their future. Poley plans on staying in Liberal, as it has been his home for almost 30 years. Poley also seved in the Kansas National Guard for 22 years.
