Scam Hits Liberal

On 09-14-2015 the Liberal Police Department was contacted by City staff informing us of a scam that is occurring in Liberal. City staff reports that on 09-14-2015 numerous local residents and businesses were contacted by telephone, by a person identifying themselves as an employee of the City Water Department, requesting payment for an overdue account. The then person requested credit card information to settle their account over the telephone. The Liberal Police Department would like to warn local residents and businesses that this is not the practice of the Utility Department of the City of Liberal.
