Saints Smother Broncbusters

KSCB News - February 27, 2012 7:29 am

The Saints saved their best defense of the season for the rival Garden City Broncbusters. The Saints held the Busters to 37 percent shooting and 18 percent shooting for the first half. The Busters only had three first half field goals as the Saints built a 35-11 lead at halftime. The Saints split the season series with GCCC after a 75-55 win at the Perryman Center.

Seward outrebounded the Busters 42-33 and forced 23 Garden City turnovers.

Daveon Boardingham scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Irvin Hollinger added 18 points and nine rebounds. Kaheem Ransom added 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Broncbusters played without Geron Johnson who averaged 19 points and six rebounds per game. He scored 29 against the Saints in Liberal January 25 but GCCC dismissed him from the team after legal trouble.

The Saints stay in first at 11-3 in the Jayhawk West and are 23-5 overall. The Busters fall to 6-9 overall and 18-11 overall.

Seward hosts Butler Wednesday at 8 p.m. for Sophomore Recognition on B107.5. Sharp-McQueen PA bought out the game.
