Saints Out Slug Colby

KSCB News - May 10, 2010 12:00 am

The Saints banged three homers out of a wind blown Brent Gould Field in route to an 11-5 win over Colby Sunday. The Saints play Colby Monday at noon for the right to go to the final four of the region at Wichita. Colby has to beat the Saints twice to advance. Logan Hall (7-2) pitched the Saints to victory holding down a good hitting team with the wind gusting out to left at 35 miles per hour. Hall pitched six and one third innings striking out five for the win. Colby scored three in the first before the Saints answered with a three spot after Todd Glime’s two RBI single. Colby scored a run in the third and led 4-3 before the Saints plated three in the fourth. Quay Grant’s two run homer made it 6-4 Saints. It was his seventh of the year. Daniel Bruce’s RBI in the sixth made it 7-4. Colby looked like they might jump back in the game during the seventh. They loaded the bases with one out in the seventh. But Colby elected to hit and run with the bases loaded leading to a double play. Glime hit a three run homer in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach. It’s his team leading tenth of the year. Kelby Tomlinson’s line drive homer over the left field wall in the eighth made it 11-4. It was his sixth of the season. Grant went 3-5 with a two run homer. Glime was 2-4 with five RBI’s. Colby would bounce back to beat Neosho 12-4 for their second win over the Panthers this weekend. Colby and Seward meet at 10 a.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. If Colby wins, they will play another game either Monday night at 7 p.m. or Tuesday at noon to work around the wind warning posted for the Liberal area.
