Saints Can’t Overcome Free Throw Disparity in Coffeyville

Brock Kappelmann - December 2, 2017 8:51 pm

The difference  in the game was the free-throw line. The Seward County Saints were 13-20 at the line while the Coffeyville Red Ravens were 27-38. The Saints still put up a fight but ultimately their upset bid fell short in a 67-64 loss at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville Saturday afternoon.

The #14 Ravens bolted out to a 30-15 lead in the first half as multiple Saints were on the bench with foul trouble. Coffeyville led 39-28 at halftime. The Saints crawled back into the game cutting Coffeyville’s leads to 41-37, 46-45, and 54-52.  The Saints finally tied the game 56-56. The Ravens took a 61-56 lead before the Saints cut the lead to 64-62 with 30 seconds left. Seward’s half Court heave at the buzzer fell short.

Ke’Sean Davis led the Saints with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Devin Bethely had 16. Both teams shot 37 percent. The Ravens had 23 turnovers and SCCC had 20.

Seward is 7-4 and 3-4 in the Jayhawk while Coffeyville is 10-1 and 6-1 in the Jayhawk. Seward hosts Allen Wednesday night at 8 on 107.5 and Flooring America and Great Western Dining are the game sponsors.
