Redskins Zone Out in Loss to Abilene

Abilene’s legendary head basketball coach Terry Taylor made a good decision at halftime.  He switched his Abilene Cowboys from a man to a zone after the Liberal Redskins carved up Abilene’s man to man for a 31-23 halftime lead.  But the Redskins were unable to solve the zone as the Cowboys outscored the Redskins 43-17 in the second half.  The Redskins go 1-2 at the Salina Invitational for the second time in three years.  Liberal is 4-8.  Liberal’s Kace Vongsakda was named to the all tournament team.  The Redskins host the Hugoton Eagles Friday at about 7 :45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.  Liberal plays their next four at home.  This was the first meeting between the Redskins and Abilene since the 1990 Hays City Shootout.
