Liberal’s soccer team is 2-0 for the first time in three years. The Redskins beat Maize 2-1 Thursday evening in the second round of the Wichita South Titan Classic. The Skins won despite 17 fouls called against them and only seven fouls against Maize. The Redskins had seven shots on goal and held the Eagles to three shots on goal.

Liberal scored first when Eliel Gonzalez crossed a pass to Edgar Moreno four minutes into the contest. A six foot Maize player headed a ball into the goal 65 minutes in to tie the game at 1-1. Liberal scored the decisive goal when Pedro Lara drilled a ball from 55 yards out on a dead ball foul. The ball was bobbled by the Maize goalie and Giovanni Enrique kicked it into the net for the decisive goals at the 78 minute mark.
