PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASS TO RAISE DONATIONS FOR STEPPING STONES SHELTER

KSCB News - April 18, 2012 8:23 am

The students from the Personal Development for the Workplace class at SCCC / ATS will be hosting a car wash at the North Pizza Hut parking lot on Saturday, April 21st from 9am-Noon. The class requires the students to select a service project as a group to give back to the community. After discussing the many opportunities and service organizations in the community of Liberal, the students decided on the car wash and will be donating the proceeds to the Stepping Stone Shelter.

Kelsey Wilson, student in the class and member of the Lady Saints basketball team will be talking with Joe Denoyer on 1270AM on April 18th along with Susan Lukwago, board member for the Stepping Stones Shelter, to inform the community of the shelter’s needs. The students would like to encourage everyone in the community to come out and get their car washed. The suggested donation for the car washing service is $10.00.

The Personal Development for the Workplace class is all about helping students evolve their characters as professional men and women by helping them focus on a career choice through determining their personal values, designing personal development plans for the next three years of their life with goals and strategies, choosing a service project to give back to their community, developing their resumes and cover letters for their first jobs, performing mock interviews with leaders in the community of Liberal in the area of interest they choose and learning to work with teams.
