Pancake Day 2017 Just Around The Corner

February 28th, make sure you mark that date on your calendar for 68th Annual Pancake Day. Start your Pancake Day off with pancakes and sausage starting at 6 a.m. Breakfast will be served at the Seward County Activity Center, 810 Stadium, from 6-10 a.m. and admission is a Pancake Day button. Buttons can be purchased for $4 at the Pancake Day Hall of Fame, Saturday Feb. 25 at the Girl Scout Building, during the flipping/eating contest, or at the door Pancake Day morning. The breakfast program will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will include the introductions of this year’s racers, remarks from city officials and special guests. At the conclusion of the breakfast program at approximately 8 a.m. we will be auctioning off two sets of two planes tickets courtesy of our National Sponsor, PenAir’s generous donation.

The winner of the International Race, along with the traditional prizes, will also get two plane tickets courtesy of PenAir. All race signups will begin February 15th-17th from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Liberal Recreation Department and will continue February 21st- 24th from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Girl and Boy racers ages 3-18 get your signups in quick, only the first 15 to enter will get to run. Youth Races will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Men’s Pacer Race at 11:40 a.m. and race events will conclude with the International Race at 11:55 a.m.

Following the International Race the public is invited to attend the Shriving Service at 12:15 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Prizes will be presented to the winners following the Shriving Service and a live video chat with Olney, England, is set for 1:15 p.m., also at First United Methodist Church.

The Pancake Day festivities will conclude at 3:00 p.m. with the Parade. The Parade route will run from 11th Street and Kansas Ave to Trail Street. For more information about the Pancake Day estivites call the Pancake Day Hall of Fame at (620) 624-6423.
