Omaha Proves Way Too Human in NBC Opener

KSCB News - July 28, 2012 10:25 pm

For the third time in the modern era of the NBC World Series, an NBC team committed nine errors in an NBC game. Fortunately for the Liberal Bee Jays, it benefited them in the opener of the NBC World Series. The Bee Jays won 7-1 in the opener Saturday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Liberal scored two in the first, two in the second, one in the fourth, and two in the seventh.

Liberal scored two in the first thanks to a pair of Omaha errors. The BJ’s plated two in the second. One scored on an error. Liberal loaded the bases with no outs but scored only two.

The BJ’s scored one in the fourth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Rainey. Liberal scored two more in the seventh thanks to errors. Johnathan Sigado doubled home a run.

Chad Nack (5-2) pitched like the BJ ace. He went seven innings allowing one run and four hits. Earl Jenkins and Ray Ashford added scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

The Omaha Strike Zone is an all star team from a six team league in Omaha. They are 3-1 after winning a regional in Clarinda, Iowa. The Bee Jays are 28-15 and play the Hutchinson Monarchs Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. in Wichita on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.

The Bee Jays are 21-5 the past five years at the NBC.
