Virginia May Helsel, 84, died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born the daughter of Dennis Maxwell Booth and Mildred Catherine (Hart) Booth on February 27, 1933 in Liberal, KS.

She married Gerald Lee Helsel on May 17, 1952, in Clayton N.M. He died July 9, 2000.

She graduated from Liberal High School in 1943. She was a Crew Chief for Beech Aircraft on the 1900 Aircraft and the Beech Jet. She worked for Beech Aircraft for 20 years, retiring in 1993. She worked as a clerk for Black’s Drug Store and she also worked for USD 480 at South Jr. High School in the cafeteria.

Virginia was a charter member of Faith Tabernacle Church and she was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. She enjoyed working with ceramics, woodcrafts, roller skating, yardwork, gardening and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include: 1 Son Ronnie Helsel Liberal, KS.

1 Daughter Rhonda (Steve) McAdams Liberal, KS.

1 Brother William “Bill” Booth Missouri

1 Sister Sharon Wilkerson Longview, WA.

4 Grandchildren: Carrie, Myka, Brandon and Brandi and 9 Great Grandchildren: Ashley, Amanda, Farrah, Kyle, Clay, Maddi, Jacob, Cagle and Sylvia and 1 Great Great-Grandchild: Vaughn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 Sister Betty Handley.

Visitation will be 9:00 A.M – 8:00 P.M. Monday, February 19th and 9:00 A.M. until service time on Tuesday, February 20th at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.

Funeral Service will be 2: 00 P.M. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901, with Pastor Rex Petty officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Liberal Animal Shelter in care of Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.
