Ruby S. Pace, 83, of Liberal, passed away on Friday June 8, 2018 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

She was born on July 6, 1934 to Melvin and Ophenia (Tucker) Ward at Ft. Worth, TX.

When Ruby was a small child her father Melvin Ward passed away. Her mother went on to marry L.M. Jones, who helped raise her and her siblings.

She married Vernon Pace in 1952 at Lubbock, TX, he preceded her in death in 1989.

Ruby moved to the Lubbock, TX/ Queen City area when she was 15, where she met her husband Vernon. In 1964 she moved to Liberal, KS and went to work at Southwest Medical Center in the Laundry Dept. She left Southwest Medical Center to help take care of her grand kids. In 1981 she worked briefly with her daughter Kiddie at Wendy’s when it first opened in Liberal. When she was younger she enjoyed playing softball and running. She also enjoyed dancing, singing, playing cards, Bingo and was a specialist in making Rice Crispy Treats! She was a 45-year member of the Bibleway Church of God In Christ, where she was active in many church activities.

Ruby is survived by Three Daughters- Barbara Pace of Liberal, KS, Kiddie Bond of Liberal, KS, and Paulette Pace of N Las Vegas, NV; One Son- Otis Ward of Topeka, KS; Three Sisters- Effie Jones of Houston, TX, Ledal Westphal of Wichita, KS, and Lola Jenkins of Wichita, KS; 20 Grandchildren, 31 Great Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren; a host of Nieces and Nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Four Sons- Kenneth Lee Pace, Charles E Butler, Jr., Ronnie Lee Pace, and Renaldo Pace; One Daughter- Brenda Pace; Three Brothers- Melvin Ward, Jr., Kenneth Ray Ward, and L.M. Jones, Jr., Two Sisters- Beatrice Cooper and Doris “Jeannie” Ward.

Viewing will be 10:00 am – 8:00 pm Friday, June 15, 2018, at Miller Mortuary

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 16, 2018, at the Bibleway Church of God In Christ, with Supt. Lawrence Johnson, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Liberal City Cemetery.
