Richard D. Marrs, age 84, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born October 1, 1934, at Fowler, Kansas, the son of Chester I. and Edith Susan (Brock) Marrs. As a young boy he attended school in Fowler, graduating from Fowler High School in 1952.  He began his career with Walker Manufacturing working for several years as a foreman.  He later began working as an operator for the Natural Gas Booster station in Bloom, Kansas, taking early retirement.  After his retirement he was a driver for the Fowler Senior bus for 25 years.

He attended the Fowler Friends Church.  He enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

On April 15, 1956, he married Helen Downing at Clayton, New Mexico.  She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Shelly Kellam of Calera, Oklahoma, Tim Marrs of Meade, Kansas, Ted Marrs of Liberty, Missouri, Valerie Watson of Montezuma, Kansas, and Phil Marrs of Fowler, Kansas; a brother Irvin Marrs of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Pauline Golden of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Ella Mae Marrs of Greensburg, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Lewis, Roscoe, Chester Lloyd, Leo Ramon, and Danny Ray Marrs; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018, at the Fowler Friends Church. In accordance to his request, cremation has taken place.  Inurnment will follow in the Fowler Cemetery.

The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Friends Church or to the Fowler Senior Center in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
