Ola I. Howie, 74, Liberal, KS, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at
Wheatridge Park Care Center, Liberal, KS.

She was born June 10, 1936 at Guymon, OK, the daughter of
Robert E. & Edith M. Deaton Grant.

She graduated Eureka High School in 1954 and worked for
Southwestern Bell for eleven years.

Ola was very active in church and community affairs, cared for children
of coaches and teachers, volunteered for the Red Cross Blood
Drive & Southwest Medical Center Auxiliary, very involved in KIDS, Inc, Seward County Election Board, PTA mom, Treasurer of the Eureka
School Reunion Committee, Liberal High School Booster Club.

She was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ and the
CCWA, Liberal, KS.

On May 5, 1957 she married Herbert J. Howie in Liberal, KS, he
survives.

Other survivors include, two sons, Bart Howie, Liberal, KS;
Brent Howie and wife Leanne, Satanta, KS; one daughter,
Bridget King and husband Harry "Butch", Liberal, KS;
one brother, Robert "Bob" Grant, Liberal, KS; three sisters,
Bobbie Lundburg and husband Charles, Liberal, KS;
Nina Lauderdale, Athens, GA; Gladys Reece, Dodge City, KS;
five granddaughters, Briana, Rebecca & Elizabeth King,
Alex & Ava Howie; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Grant, Liberal, KS; Juanita Grant, Hooker, OK & Janice Grant, Turpin, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Donald, James, Chester & Dillard,
one sister Fannie Russell.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the
Western Avenue Church of Christ, with Ministers Glenn Walton,
& John Henley presiding.

Interment will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary 4-8 P.M. Thursday and
9 A.M.-8 P.M. Friday.

The suggests memorials be sent to Black Mesa Bible Camp or High
Plains Children’s Home in care of the mortuary.
